K. T. Philip

After Mr. Philip graduated with a Bachelors in Arts from Thevara College, Cochin in History and Economics, he taught at Kunnamthanam High School for a short period of time. He then came to Singapore in mid 1953 from Madras (Chennai), India and become a Singapore citizen 2 years after that. He become a teacher at Christ Church and eventually Anglo Chinese Secondary School. He taught Geography, English and Bible Studies to the students and even taught his son Thomas Philip Bible Studies in 1985 when his son was in the class Secondary 3G. He retired in 1987.
Mr. Philip married Molley Philip Edathumpadickal and had a daughter Merina. Molly passed away when Merina was about 8 years old. Mr. Philip then married Chinnamma from Vattakunnel, Kottayam Kerala in 1969 and had two sons Thomas and Jacob.
Thamby, initially lived with his brother and family at 10 Chempaka Avenue at Sennette Estate and then moved to their own home at 37 Jalan Kelulut at Seletar Hills in 1970. They then sold their house in 2003 and moved to Aluva, Kerala. They lived in a unit at Chacko Homes, a retirement home for seniors while building a house next door to Chacko Homes along Chacko Gardens Lane.
A month after moving in to the new house, Thamby passed away at the end of September in 2007 at age 80.
